May 30, 2011

Dear Family,
Hey, I don’t have time to say anything. I didn’t even read the letters. I think that I am just gonna print them off and read them, and then we´ll see. We went again to the waterfalls, and it was way fun. I will be sure to let you know what’s up next week. We don’t have many people, and it’s been really hard, but we are going to buckle down and get to work. I love you all a lot, and hope that this week is bacansísimo.
Love,
Elder Jace Reber

Oh, and something. I bought a guitar from one of the zone leaders. I haven’t got it yet, but I’m way excited. 40 bucks, that’s it. I’m gonna get one made, too, in the end of the mish, but this should do till then. I love you.

Madison,
Hey, sorry I can’t write much, but I feel I gotta. I know what’s goin on. I never had a lot of friends, either. In school, I had friends like you do, where you go and tons know you and you’re funny and all of that. But outside of that, not much. Don’t worry about it. Even freakin here in the mission, some are more popular. It’s life. But you just gotta forget it. You’re funny, wicked smart, it seems, and are doing a ton of good things with your life. God has blessed our family so much. I know it’s hard, especially because a girl and her friends are life, but you can do it. Are you praying and reading the BofM and going to church? I know it’s not something you wanna hear, but remember, I was the most stubborn of everyone. And I changed. I know my purpose. And you will too.

Don’t worry. I’ll be praying. God will be helping. Christ payed for our sins, no? But something I always read that helps me so much. He knows our pains. Our emotions. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Read Alma 7:11-13. It is so cool to know that he can "succor" us, or
how to care for us, because he has experienced it ALL. ALL. . . . . .ALLLLLL. Keep your chin up. I get discouraged, too, but that doesn’t help anything. Just keep studying, and be nice to everyone. One thing I’ve learned, there’s always someone else. Whether it’s investigators, friends, (a spouse, what?) haha, there’s always someone. If not, I’m here, and it´ll be easier to chill after the mish too, with the both of us being in college. Cool freakin beans. Well, I love ya, mi ñaña, and I want what’s best for ya. Keep on keepin on, and everything will go awesome. I miss you a lot, too, but only about 14 months left. Time is freakin FLYING. I’’m sure it is there, too. Well, I’ll talk to you next week.

Love, Your Brother,

May 23, 2011

Dear Mom and Dad,
Hey, sorry, I don’t have much time, and we´re actually not supposed to be here, but I gotta send one out. It’s past the time, and that’s not good, at all. So, haha, I’ll cut it down. I’m glad everything at home went well. Really busy, but cool. I’m sure the choir concert was excellent, and the baptism, too. Same with the piano. Everything, really. Thanks for the new stuff, and keep me updated.
About here. No, this last week sucked. Only 1 new person. We usually have 7 or 8 or 12, but this only one. It was really hard, but we are going to change and do a lot better. We have some new ideas, and I really understand some basic concepts. We did have a baptism last week for a guy with 63 years and the wife with 72. I did the both. Really scared that I was gonna hurt one of them, I’m serious, but it turned out really well. We should have a couple more for this Saturday, so we´re gonna have to see.
Well, that’s that. I don’t have time for any pics, but hopefully the next Monday there will be. I love you guys a ton, and sorry if I forgot anything. Pray for me. I know it helps.

Love,
Elder Jace Reber

Oh, and yes, the package that was sent back was from Dana, I think, and is out. It’s hard to get it, but I’ll find out. It might still be better as of right now not to send any. Sorry. Freakin Ecuador. Eh, I can’t say that. Love this place.

Oh, and while I remember, has James passed by again, or what? What’s
happenin with that kid? He’s back, and it freaks me out. Gentry´ll be
there in like 3 months I think. Wow.

May 23, 2011

Hey Mada,
Yeah, everything was good. Ain’t got a whole lot of time to write, so sorry for that. But its good. I’m glad you had a good year. Can’t believe its already the end of the school year. That’s really crazy. But life passes. Enjoy the summer while you can. It’s the last one, almost, that you´ll ever have. Then work, college, and marriage, ugh. Heh heh, well, I love you a lot too and miss you, and hope that you have a really super awesome week.
Love,
Elder Jace Reber

May 16, 2011

Dear Family,
Hey, everything is going well here. Yeah, the Skype thing was really fun, and I’m glad we got to do it. Everyone still looks the same, basically. Only Brooklyn looks like she has changed a lot. She looks a lot older. Kinda scary, but whaddya do? Nothing. But yeah.
Lets see. This week was kinda a bust. I have a new comp, Elder Martinez, from Guatemala (yeah, another freakin Guatamateco) and he’s ok. He was in Santo Domingo with me, so I already kinda knew him. He doesn’t talk a lot, but he’s good. I teach a lot now, so that’s good. We take turns fairly well, and I like that. But we haven’t done a whole lot. Not a lot of new people, and not a whole lot of bappys. But hey, it was the first week. It was fun. We have a couple planned for this week, and they´re gonna get interviewed tonight, so we´re hopìng for the best. We had planned 4, but we can’t find the other two. Fetch! It sucks.
Other than that, nothing has happened. My comp is a little lazy, and sometimes it’s hard to be motivated. He’s got 15 months almost, but he is still comp menor, and for that reason. He’s just a follower, even more so than I am, but I’m trying to help him change a bit. We´ll see. I can’t remember any stories or anything this week, but we found some people that just let us right in, and it was nice to have someone do it like that. I dunno. We´ll see what we can do.
Well, I love you guys. Do the things I told you in the house. I know I’m not there, and it might be a little different for me, but when I get back, whoo, every single day. It´ll change; I know it. It’s hard to see now, but you both just gotta get into it. Study alone, and then share what you learned. That’s where I always learn a lot. Read slow, pray before, and do it with real intent. You´ll learn a ton. Well, that’s that. Have a good week, and hopefully next week everything will have gone good and we´ll have some more people. I completed 9 months on the 11th. Wow. En serio. Bueno.

Love,
Elder Jace Reber

Madison,
Yeah, there were. His name’s Elder Martinez. He’s from Guatemala, has got 15 months, doesn’t talk much, and is lazy. But. . . I’m still Senior comp, we´ve found a couple of families, I’m really good looking, and I speak Spanish like a beast, so everything will be good, I´d assume. But yeah, that’s that.
Hey, good luck with everything that is gonna pass this week. I know that everything will turn out for the best, and there shouldn’t be too many problems. Just remember to keep praying, and I know that everything will be just peachy. I love you a lot, and hope you have a ton of fun this week. You’re in my prayers and my thoughts, when I’m not freakin out over something stupid. 15 months, chicky poo!

Love,
Elder Jace Reber
Tu hermano

Dear Brooklyn, Whitney, and Hunter,
I had a lot of fun too talking to all of you guys. It’s always fun to do Skype, huh? I like it. But yeah, this week is gonna be a little crazy for you all. But that’s ok. I hope that you all do really good on your tests, and that you do good in the Piano thing, and Hunter in your baptism! Pretty crazy that you’re already 8, but that’s ok. I remember thinking in December how far away it was before you were gonna get baptized. Well, not anymore, right? I love you guys a lot, and I hope that everything goes good. I pray for you too, and hope that you keep going good.
Love,
Jace

Oh, and yes, I got a new companion. His name is Elder Martinez, from Guatemala. He’s nice.

May 9, 2011

Dear Mom and Dad and Family,
No, I haven’t got the changes yet. The leaders know who is leaving, just not where. And they don’t know for us still. Freak. So, we are gonna call in 30 minutes, and then we´ll know. So that’s that. Other than that, no, everything is still the same. I’m actually a little nervous. Not sure why. I know that after the first 3 or 4 days everything will just be normal, and then I’’ll just know what I am doing, and then it´ll just pick up. I dunno. We´ll see.
Yeah, yesterday was really fun. I’m glad I got to talk to you guys. It was good to see your faces and everything.
Well, nothing new. I probably won’t get a chance to tell you until next week what happens, but if I leave today, or my comp, at least I could write right now. I’m not too worried. Just keep praying and everything, and I know that time will go.
Oh, one cool thing. Elder Richard G. Scott is coming to talk just with our mission in like 3 weeks. I’m really stoked, and I think that it should be a really fun experience. Anyway. That’s all. I love you guys and miss you a lot, and I can’t believe it’s almost June! Well, kinda. Not really, but still. Too bad we don’t get a summer vacation, huh? Haha, yeah.

Love,
Elder Jace Reber

May 9, 2011

Madison,
Hey, apparently, I didn’t get the letter from the last time that you said. What did it say? Yeah, it was really fun, and it´ll be the same level of fun in only 7 and a half months! Can hardly wait. Anyway. Keep up the good work, really, and everything will be just swell for ya. Love you, and have a good week. Only 3 weeks till summer vacation! Then you´ll be a senior for that freakin place and President too, no? Excellent. Well, chao.

Love,
Elder Jace Reber

Yeah, that should be everything, I think. My comp broke my camera today, and it´ll be 40 bucks to fix it. Haha, something to talk about tomorrow. I love you. We are going to do it at 6 here. And that’s about it. Just wait for my call, and we´ll do the video thing. Just gotta find one with headphones. Can’t wait!

May 2, 2011

Dear Family,
Hey, yeah, I’m doing good. We´re in May now, and that is just really crazy to hear. Like, way crazy. These last four have flown by pretty quick, and it´ll be interesting to see how the next 8 are, too. I finally feel like I have a little bit of time here, and I’m not so new anymore. So that’s super cool.
It sounds like everything is still going good at home. I’m glad to hear and to know that. Sounds like the tests and everything are already starting. Still a little weird to me, because I remember leaving just one week before the school year started. And now its ending, almost. Pretty crazy! But thanks for all of the updates. Crazy that they found Obama.
Haha, yeah, in church yesterday, Katty told me. Guess what? What? I called someone last night. Who? Guess. Yeah, I knew. But she told me that she called you guys, and that’s really cool. I gave her the number the very first day that I was there, and the address too. Pretty cool stuff. She’s a really good lady, and way direct and powerful with her testimony. So that’s fun.
About the Skype, yeah, they say that it’s allowed. I am gonna make an account right now, but I don’t know if I’ll use it. It would be fun to see everyone, but it might be more doing it after the two years, and just kinda showing up and seeing the difference like that. I dunno. I’ll make one, and let you know. The zone leaders haven’t told us anything from President, so I’m not exactly sure. Probably, yeah, we can. It´d be easier to talk to and see everyone.
What else is new? Nothin, really. A lot of stuff happened this week. Really cool stuff. Let’s see. I don’t really know where to start, honestly. I’m a little lost of mind. Ok. Well, we find a cool little family Monday, and the oldest daughter totally tries to flirt with me. And she’s cute. You know how hard it is to not do it back? More than you´d think. But I do it. They´re are good. We thought. The dad doesn’t live with them, but he doesn’t let the youngest daughter come. They all drink, we found out. The oldest goes to an Evangelical church. Freak. But other than that, we´re working.
Tuesday. Excellent! We went and ate with an older couple we found, and he’s way smart. Won’t pray to see if the BofM is verdadero, but whatev. We went, and I got to eat Cow tongue. I was excited. And, in the soup, there was a chicken head, and I got to eat the eyes and the little hangy ball thing and some organs. Super cool. And after, it rained the hardest I’ve ever seen. Hailing, too. It was awesome.
Wednesday. Umm, not much. Oh, but at night, the Flia Hernandez, whos son is gettin baptized this Friday, told us something. The mom, at first, was way rough. Just not wanting. But I was talkin to her Wednesday, telling her why wait, you’re probably just scared and she told me "No, I’m completely sure that I wanna baptize myself in this church. Just gotta wait for my hubby." Really super good. That hasn’t happened to me yet. To see that big of a change. Really fun.
Thursday. Another lady said the same thing as Wednesday. It’s good to see that the people actually have testimonies. It makes me a happy guy.
Friday, we argued with a bull fighter, we found out, and he was just slammin down. Really, REALLY nice guy, but just a little eccentric. We ain’t goin back, but it was still fun.
Friday. Katty came with us to a cita with some people from the coast, the Flia Castro. Super cool people, and really friendly. We have been trying to get the daughter and her dude married for a long time. And they finally put a goal. Cool. So we bring Katty, and she just slams DOWN on the dad of the daughter and the daughter, (the husband was being a punk and wouldn’t come out). It was really good. She’s a good teacher. I still suck at teaching, but whatever. What can I do?
And yesterday, the kid that’s gonna get baptized came with us and it was really fun. So yeah, that’s about it. Lot of good stuff. I’m really excited to finally be pickin up with people and everything. It should be really good.
Apart from that, I can’t remember anything. I’m almost at 9 months here in the mish, and I’m livin it up. It’s becoming more and more normal every single day, but still, poca a poca. James came home, eh? A little ahead of schedule, about 2 months, but ah well. Haha, anyway. I set up that account just barely, but I can’t talk or hear anything. I think you guys gotta buy a microphone for the computer. Or maybe the laptop already has one built in. Just ask someone. Maybe Sharon. I remember we talked with Trevor before I left. So yeah. Well, I love you guys, and I probably won’t be able to send a letter next week. There really is almost a 100 percent chance for changes. Have a good week!

Love,
Jace

Dear Brooklyn,
Hey, yeah, its pretty cool that Mom got to talk to Katty. I was pretty excited when I heard it yesterday. But I’m super glad that you are having a really fun time doing all that you’re doing there. I hope that you keep doing it. I am excited to talk to you guys on Sunday!
That´ll be fun, right? I think so. Anyway. Love you and miss you too.

Dear Whitney,
Yeah, everything is going good for me. It’s May, and you guys are already almost out of school, cierto? I can’t believe it! Its just goin right by, isn’t it? I’m glad for that. Keep it up. I love you and miss you too. I’ll talk to you Sunday.

Dear Hunter,
A beer, huh? You gotta ask Dad what the Word of Wisdom is. Or you could say the Palabra de Sabaduria, as it is in Spanish. Haha, I’m glad you have had some fun times, and I’m glad I get to talk to you. I love you and miss you!

Love to all,
Elder Jace Reber
